我希望各位毕业生们在今后

Today I wish to focus on the courage

能拥有承认自己无知的勇气

to acknowledge all we do not know

倾听与你意见相反的观点

Listening to that with which we may disagree is an act

并不是一种妥协

not of conciliation

而是对真理的忠诚

but of fidelity to truth

承认自己的错误并不意味着你失败了

And admitting what we got wrong is no

sign of failure

反而是你走向博学的必经之路

but a necessary step toward knowledge

真正富有智慧的教育

The mark of a great education

不仅在于探索了多少未知

consists not only of the new frontiers of knowledge we reach

更在于对现有的偏见有多少反思

but if the existing viewpoints we reconsider

并不一定非要收获多少新的理解

not necessarily of the understanding we gain

而在于我们放弃了多少错误假设

but if the assumptions we shed

谦逊--也就是勇于承认我们错了

Humility, that willingness to say we are wrong

使我们能够在终生追求真理的道路上

上enables us to scale otherwise unattainable heights

攀登到原来难以企及的高度

in the lifelong pursuit of knowledge
